Hypoproliferative Thrombocytopenia

Study Title: Platelet Dose Study

The goal of this study is to identify an optimal dosing strategy for prophylactic platelet transfusions. Hospital in-patients whose platelet counts are low due to stem cell transplants or chemotherapy are assigned to one of three dosing strategies for their platelet transfusions. The primary endpoint is the percentage of subjects who have at least one day with moderate or serious bleeding. The Platelet Dose Study began enrollment in July, 2004, and has a target enrollment of 1,350 subjects. This was being conducted through the Transfusion Medicine/Hemostasis Clinical Trial Network.
