Study 056:  A Safety and Efficacy Trial Evaluating the Use of Apixaban in the Treatment of Symptomatic Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism

CURRENTLY ENROLLING PARTICIPANTS
The purpose of this research study is to determine the efficacy and safety of apixaban compared  to standard therapy (enoxaparin transitioned to warfarin) in the combined endpoint of recurrent symptomatic Venous Thromboembolism (VTE)  (a nonfatal Deep Vein Thrombosis or nonfatal Pulmonary Embolism) or VTE-related death over 6 months of therapy.
