About the Center

Overview

Members of the Hemostasis & Thrombosis Center provide comprehensive primary and consultative care for patients with hemorrhagic and thromboembolic disorders on an inpatient and outpatient basis. The Clinical Coagulation and Platelet Antibody Laboratories provide an extensive menu of clinical laboratory testing in support of the mission of the Center, as well as referral laboratory services. We are a leading referral center for patients with a wide variety of hemostatic and thrombotic disorders and offer innovative care and novel therapies for these patients.

Mission

Our mission is to provide a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of patients with hemorrhagic and thromboembolic disorders, conduct clinical, translational, and basic research studies, and teach physicians, students, and other healthcare providers about this specialty.

The Center is one of eight pilot thrombophilia program sites funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and is the coordinating center for the Rare Thrombotic Diseases Clinical Research Consortium.

Our programs focus on patients with complex hemorrhagic and thromboembolic disorders, anticoagulation management issues, and provision of peri-operative and peri-procedural support. Specialists in maternal-fetal medicine, pediatrics, genetic counseling, interventional radiology, and surgery who have a particular interest in patients with these disorders are also members of the Center.
